Foliage Update

Autumn is officially here in Jackson, NH. The nights are getting chilly and the landscape is turning into a beautiful vision of orange, red and yellow. We have updated our rates for Fall Foliage. We are running our queen rooms for $99 per night, king rooms for $129 per night, suites for $179 per night and cottages $239 per night for any weekdays through October 19^th. Weekend prices do vary so if you can make the time to come up for a visit midweek, it is definitely worth it! There are many ways to see the foliage here. The Cog Railway offers a Notch Train which takes you on a scenic journey through Pinkham Notch which has gorgeous colors this time of year. You can also drive up the Mount Washington Auto Road to peek at the leaves from Mount Washington’s summit. Not feeling adventurous enough to drive up the mountain? Wrapping up Summer with a Labor Day Vacation!

Greetings from all of us here at Whitney’s Inn in Jackson, NH! We have had perfect summer weather here lately. Lots of sunshine, no humidity and clear skies. It has been just right for outdoor activities. Evenings have been quite chilly and brisk, a sure sign that soon we will put away the flip flops and bring out the wool socks!

Many families are planning their last hurrah of summer and going away for Labor Day weekend. There are plenty of things to do here for Labor Day such as fishing, taking out a canoe on our trout pond, taking a hike at one of the local trails, spending the day at our pool or visiting the Jackson Falls. On Monday, August 2nd, the town of Jackson is having a benefit dinner and dance for the Harvey Baldwin Scholarship Fund. All proceeds go directly to the scholarship fund. What better way to spend Labor Day than dancing and helping a good cause? After all that dancing you don’t even have to worry about driving home because we still have some availability here and would love for you to come to visit us! You’ve made the cut and your name is on the guest list so you get to wine, dine and schmooze with Hollywood’s elite after their night of accolades at the Academy Awards. The evening will be filled with drama. Careers will be made, secrets revealed and scandals broken. Oh, and a murder will be committed.

With a VIP victim, and all the celebrities suspect, you and your fellow guests will be called upon to examine the web of lies and uncover the clues to expose the culprit and “crack” the red carpet caper.

Due to the nature of the performance, tickets are for Adults Only (18 yrs and older) and ticket holders will be asked to dress appropriately – Casual Elegant to Formal.

Casual Elegant – For him, it could be a dark suit or a button down with trousers, made complete by a sport coat. For her, a formal pants outfit, or a snazzy black dress complemented by an evening wrap or clutch bag would be perfect for such a grand scene. Both women and men will find turtlenecks, darker colors, and leather shoes to be universally accepted as supplements to casual elegant outfits.

Elegant will require more flare, especially for women. You may want to bring out some of the finer jewelry, bolder makeup, and dare to show more skin. Men can don the smoother ties, cufflinks, and may want to wear a black and blue suit before selecting a gray or tan one.

Formal – Those exquisite dresses and tuxedos are considered formal attire. The formal standard demands patrons to wear their best, with women in ravishing dresses and men in suits. Formal wear can even go a step above and befall black tie invitations, which call for men to wear tuxedos, and women to wear cocktail or long dresses, or modish, dressy evening separates.

Spring Time at Whitney’s Inn and Inn at Jackson, Jackson NH Lodging in the White Mts

Spring time in the Mt. Washington Valley, NH is the best time to relax and enjoy the warm sun with an occasional cool breeze from the melting snow or spring into the wilderness for a fun outdoor adventure!  With fewer crowds in the area you will find shopping, dining and enjoying the majestic nature sounds so much more enjoyable.

For the Adventure Seekers, a trek to Mt Washington’s famous Tuckerman’s Ravine would create a fun filled day of skiing and snowboarding.  If you are bringing along some hikers, but not skiers, they can chill out at HoJo’s cabin or the infamous sun rocks at the base of Tuckerman’s Ravine.  HoJo’s is the caretaker’s cabin and outpost for Tuckerman’s Ravine.  It is not a facility. They do however provide some basic supplies like snacks and t-shirts (during busy weekends in the spring).

For milder hikes, you may want to consider Diana’s Bath that has many waterfalls that is about a mile into the woods.  There is very little elevation gain and benches to sit on along the way and a picnic table at the end.

You can also park right at Jackson Falls and have a romantic lunch or just sit and enjoy the waterfalls and mountain views!
